Scheduled Training Sessions

If you need training that is not currently scheduled you can click the "Training Request" link at the right to submit an online request for the specific training that you need.


Radiation Safety Training (Click for schedule and online registration.)

Biological Safety Training (This training is done online for the Bloomington campus. If you would like to arrange in-person training, please complete our Training Request Form.)

CPR/First Aid/AED Training (This training is provided by the Office of Insurance, Loss Control & Claims (INLOCC).  You may visit their website to find out more about CPR/First Aid/ AED training classes.)



The classroom training sessions below are administered through IU Expand. To register for one of these classroom training session, please follow these instructions:

To register:

  • Go to the IU Expand "IU Environmental Health and Safety" page.
  • Find the course you would like to complete and click on the course .
  • To enroll, open the course's description page, and then click ENROLL. You may be redirected to a login portal; if so, click Log-in. If prompted, enter your IU username and passphrase.
  • Click the drop-down arrow next to "Choose a session".
  • Select the training session you wish to attend and click ENROLL.
  • Select "Confirm Enrollment" and then select "Return to Expand listing".
  • To navigate back to your dashboard, click your name in the top right corner, and then, from the drop-down list, click Student Dashboard.

To change date/time or cancel enrollment:

You have the option to switch the day/time of the training session, as well as to cancel your enrollment in the class.  

  • Go to the IU Expand "IU Environmental Health and Safety" page.
  • Find the course you are enrolled in and click on the course.
  • You will have the option for the following:
  • Switch Day/Time
  • Cancel Enrollment

Laboratory Safety Training

Laboratory chemical safety training discusses general lab safety principals and chemical hygiene. The session includes a description of the applicable OSHA regulations, the written chemical hygiene plan, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the new Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Chemical Classification and Labeling. You will learn about administrative controls, engineering controls (fume hoods) and personal protective equipment that you can use to protect yourself from hazardous chemicals. You will receive instructions for chemical storage, disposal, spill response, fires, accidents and other emergencies. Anyone working with hazardous chemicals in a laboratory must attend this training prior to work.

New Employee Orientation

General Safety Orientation is provided as part of the Human Resources New Employee General Orientation. This safety orientation is required for all new employees who earn compensation, including part-time, student, graduate student and work-study.
